He’s earned a reputation as the world’s number-one dating expert but Matthew Hussey has revealed he can’t bring himself to watch “freak show” reality romance shows.
The Englishman is the resident expert on Seven’s new series The Single Wives, which he said breaks the mould by focusing on practical advice rather than trashy entertainment.
“I honestly think what people are going to love about this show is that it has real practical advice that they can use — they’re not watching a car crash,” he said.
“These are real stories. They’re people that aren’t just trying to be famous, these are people that actually are trying to find love.”
The 31-year-old, who is in a relationship with US pop star Camilla Cabello, will be in Australia next week to promote The Single Wives, which premieres on July 18 at 7.30pm.

He has helped more than 100,000 people find love via his dating programs, YouTube videos and seminars. He counts Tyra Banks and Eva Longoria among his clients and has more than 2.6 million Facebook fans and more than 1 million YouTube subscribers.
So how does the world’s foremost expert on love approach his own relationship?
“With humility,” he laughed. “I am very aware never to be the coach in my own relationship. To me, that would be really, really gross and unattractive.
“I come to my own relationship as a man who’s trying to do his best and honestly trying to live up to his own advice.”
